After a long break from competitive tournaments, the Varsity Girls Volleyball team traveled to Geneva to take part in the European Sports Conference (ESC) Championship Tournament. While they were seemingly still asleep, the Tigers lost their first two matches to Basel and Lausanne (the eventual champions and runners-up, respectively). After realizing some of their weaknesses, the Tigers prepared themselves for the BBIS game, where they played an amazing first set, winning 25-3 and conceding those three points only through service errors. They kept their momentum and went on to defeat ASV for the final game of the day, getting into the playoffs as the 3rd seed of the pool.
On Saturday, the girls entered their first game against ASM with a chance to earn a spot in the semifinals. Having defeated ASM twice already this season, the Tigers were confident they could edge past their rivals. However, after losing a tough first set 28-26, the girls could not keep it together in the second set and ASM found its way into the semifinals. In the final game of the tournament, the girls faced the hosts (ISG) in the 5th-place game. They did not let the loss against ASM kill their morale and managed to defeat ISG convincingly to secure 5th place. Co-captain Arina Kolesnikova '18 was selected to the tournament All-Star Team.
