The TASIS Varsity Golf team managed to win its first-ever ESC Golf Championships as tournament hosts on Wednesday, May 15, at Circolo Golf Villa d’Este. TASIS faced two very strong teams, including the returning champions, the American School in Milan (ASM), and the International School of Geneva (ISG).
The tournament featured a classic stroke play format, with the top three scores from each team used to calculate the team score. On the challenging Par 69, 18-hole course, the Tigers came out on top with a combined score of 244, followed closely by ASM with 248. ISG finished with a 285.
TASIS was led by Tournament All-Star Francesco Attili '22, who finished in 2nd place overall with a score of 73 (+4) and won the closest-to-the-pin challenge with a distance of 5.4 meters. Joining Attilli on the Tournament All-Star team were Zhan Sarsenov '21 (4th place with a score of 85) and William Stanford '21 (5th place with a score of 86).
The tournament marked the end of the 2019 season for the Tigers, who look forward to defending their title at next year’s ESC Golf Championship, which will be hosted by runner-up ASM.
