The Varsity Girls Volleyball team had its first opportunity to play a competitive game this weekend, hosting both ASM and BFA for an invitational tournament in the Palestra. The Tigers started off by playing their arch rivals, ASM, and the girls were nervous and struggled to play at their best against the more experienced ASM team. Although they had some shining moments, the Tigers lost the season opener in straight sets. The ladies stormed back after this loss, however, and started working together as a team against BFA. Strong serves by Maria Svetlova '23, surgical tips by Payton Clardy '22, and hits by both Victoria Svetlova '23 and captain Elle Kirby '21 gave the girls their first win of the season.

The Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball team had an excellent kick-off to its season with two wins in a row, first over ASM and then over BFA. Despite most of the JV players being new this year, the team stepped up and demonstrated great teamwork, working well under the pressure of playing its first matches. Good leadership, hits, and serves by captain Nina Mondin '23, serves and hits by Nika Grigorian '23, setting and serving by Isabella Ramirez '23, and hitting and serving by Anabella Ramirez '24 led the girls to the two impressive wins.

Both teams look forward to learning from this tournament and preparing for future competitions.
