High School Fall Play Opens Next Friday!

Join us as we kick off the winter holiday season with the theatrical production of Charles Dickens’s world-famous A Christmas Carol. In the tale, miserly, mean-spirited Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three spirits who take him backwards, forwards, and sideways in time to try to teach him the values of compassion and empathy. The production stays faithful to Dickens’s story, filling the stage with colorful characters, music and dance, ghosts and spirits, and an author whose love of life and humanity provokes us to seek out the best in ourselves.

Director Valerie Bijur Carlson and Assistant Director Matthew Frazier-Smith have put together a tremendous cast and crew that not only feature High School thespians in acting, design, tech, and stage management roles but also include several young actors from the Middle and Elementary Schools. Learn more on the TASIS Blog.

A Christmas Carol will premiere in the Palmer Center on Friday, November 15, at 19:30 and will also be performed Saturday at 19:30 and Sunday at 14:30.

Seats are filling up quickly, so be sure to reserve yours now!

Yoga Marathon on November 23: Register Now

The second annual TASIS Yoga Marathon will take place on Saturday, November 23, from 9:00–16:30. This community-building event will include five yoga sessions—each featuring a different style of yoga with a first-rate instructor—and a raffle with a number of exciting prizes.

All proceeds will go toward Serving Southern Africa, an Opsahl Global Service Program group that spends two weeks each June serving rural and urban communities in Zambia—helping the elderly, volunteering at a local preschool, assisting with the provision of medication at a local hospital, planting trees, holding art workshops for street children, and transforming the community through service.

Sweet November Dance Company to Perform on November 26

TASIS's own Sweet November Dance Company (SNDC) will present its annual fall showcase, Take Flight, on Tuesday, November 26, from 18:30–19:15 in the Palmer Cultural Center. The performance will include contemporary, hip hop, jazz, and aerial dance. Reserve your seats before it’s too late!

This enthusiastic company is made up of TASIS High School students who dedicate their Sunday afternoons to learning company ensemble works from contemporary to hip hop dance numbers. Take Flight will feature work from two guest choreographers, Jordine Cornish (Tel Aviv) and Alessia della Casa (Lugano), and will include original works choreographed by both students and faculty members. The company, directed by Ms. Julie Frazier-Smith, will be joined on stage by dancers from the TASIS Faculty, Middle School, and Elementary School, and ballerina-themed artwork created by Elementary School students will be exhibited in the Palmer Center lobby. Please come join the dance celebration of the season and make your November a little sweeter!
