All TASIS reunions are memorable, but TASIS Hellenic (TH) reunions in Athens are in a class of their own. This enthusiastic community enjoyed a wonderful evening in Athens on July 27, with 160 TH alumni and their friends in attendance—representing five decades. And yes, this is possible despite the school's existence from just 1979 to 2004, as those who were in second grade in 2004, for example, are technically part of the Class of 2014. Numerous classes had a strong turnout, with the class of 1994 having the largest group (15), and the Hellenic International School (HIS) Class of 1979 celebrating its 40-year reunion in style with a fun group of around a dozen people.
Some alumni flew in from other parts of Europe and even from the US to attend the event, having scheduled their holidays in Greece to coincide with the reunion. The joy at being reunited was evident and was accompanied by a delicious barbecue and buffet—and even a cake dedicated to TASIS Hellenic's 40th birthday. Music and dancing completed the festive atmosphere, including the ad hoc creation of a limbo stick from TASIS lanyards!
A huge THANK YOU to Eleni Haniotakis TH '94, who worked on all the local details for us and without whom none of this would have been possible. Heartfelt thanks also to the members of the Class of 1979, who packed up all the leftover food at the end to give to the poor. The evening concluded in style with the usual after-party at Escoba, where the dancing and reminiscing continued. This was a reunion attendees will not soon forget!
