Senior Humanities Program 2012

The Senior Humanities Program (SHP) draws from some of the best elements of the TASIS identity—truth, beauty, goodness, international understanding, and humanitarian action—to provide TASIS Seniors and Post Graduates with a signature educational experience. Two speakers have already been on campus, and the schedule for the rest of the year is taking shape.

The first guest for the season was Dr. Amy Lehman. A previous post about her visit can be viewed here. In late November, Dr. Janne Siren '88 was on campus for a three-day visit. He has served since 2007 as the Director of the Helsinki Art Museum. During his time on campus Dr. Siren visited a number of IB classes and talked with students about his role as the director of one of the Nordic regions largest museums. From the beginning challenge of deciding what exhibition to show and the arduous, but exciting process of bringing the exhibition to life, Dr. Siren gave students a glimpse of life as a museum director. He also reminisced with students about his life at TASIS!

On Tuesday, November 27, Dr. Siren gave a presentation to the senior class about Visual Literacy. View a short clip of Dr. Siren's lecture below. (If you do not see the graphic below click here to see the video.)
