Dear All,
I am writing to update you about the mandatory quarantine requirement introduced by the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) a few months ago, as there are new changes that will go into effect on Monday that could affect you if you intend to travel over the course of this long weekend.
Since this July, travelers who have entered Switzerland from "a country or area with a high risk of infection" or who have spent any time in those countries in the 10 days preceding their arrival in Switzerland have been required to enter a self-quarantine period for 10 days. Please note that, as of October 12, the list will be updated to include the popular Italian touristic areas of Veneto, Sardinia, Campania, and Liguria; several regions in the neighboring countries of Germany (including Berlin and Hamburg), France, and Austria; and additional countries both in and outside of the EU.
We are asking each of you to take a look at the FOPH's updated list, as we are sure you'd like to avoid traveling to any regions that would require quarantine upon your return from the long weekend.
Please also note that, as previously communicated, the procedure to announce your arrival in Switzerland from a high-risk country has changed. The new procedure you must follow is summarized below, and more information can be found here.
What to do when entering Switzerland from a high risk country:
- Go immediately to your home or to other suitable accommodation. On the way there, keep a minimum distance of 1.5 meters from other people. If you are unable to maintain this distance, wear a mask. Avoid public transport if possible.
- Report your arrival to the cantonal authority responsible within two days by filling in this form.
- For 10 days after your arrival in Switzerland, you must stay in your home or other suitable accommodation without going out. Avoid contact with other people and follow the instructions on quarantine (see the attachment).
The Canton hotline is still active and can be reached at 0800 144 144 from 9:00–17:00 on any day, including weekends.
